Movie Spotlight

This time in the movie spotlight... Extreme Heist, Johnny's as of yet newest release. Extreme Heist can be considered a cheesy, B-grade action film with terrible acting, but I am not Leonard Maltin. So, my opinion is going to be a little bit better and a little more fair to the move in question.

First of all, this is Johnny's first role other than Adam Park from Power Rangers. And, it shows his versitility as an actor. For you see, Adam is a very different person than Billy Ray (Johnny's character in the movie.) Adam is a quiet, shy, sensitive martial artist who puts his trust in everyone around him. Billy Ray, on the other hand, is an untrusting, small time theif whose loyalties lie in only the hands of his best friend, Guile Lydon. The difference in these characters give a great example of Johnny's acting abilities.

Now, onto the movie. Extreme Heist is full of cliches and other comedic runoffs. Something that seems to be frowned upon in Hollywood. Anyway, though the movie itself is rather good, the acting can grow sour at times. But, in this fan's eyes, it's never on the fault of Johnny. I can see the acting go bad at times with Motoko Nagino or even Jason Narvy, but I've never seen it go wrong on Johnny's part. Then again, my opinion is rather biased. Nonetheless, it is my opinion.

The plot is pretty basic. Two thieves get involved in a big time hacking job and end up coming out the good guys. And you thought crooks were bad people. I believe that it's set in Nevada, starting out in Las Vegas and ending in California City, I think. It is really a freefall of action from beginning to finish, considering the fact that the bad guys show up every ten minutes or so. Many would say that the action is what holds it together, but I see differently. I think that not only the action of the movie, but also the character development keeps this movie up on my favorites list. The movie perfectly shows how Billy Ray learns to trust others, rather than just one particular person. It also shows the love (and sexual tension) between Guile and Kim. Another good thing.

I think that I'll bring this baby to a close now. And since Billy Ray didn't get any love in this movie, I'm writing a sequel where he finds his one and only. Well, I'll see ya'll peeps later!! Same Johnny Bosch Fan time, same Johnny Bosch Fan channel.
